Running a photography business is about so much more than clicking a shutter. It’s about building relationships, telling stories, creating a seamless client experience—and knowing how to communicate your brand clearly and confidently.
That’s where my education comes in.
I earned my B.A. in Communication Studies with a concentration in Public Relations/Marketing, and a minor in Business—and every day, I see just how much that foundation is supporting me as a creative entrepreneur.
📢 1. Strategic Communication = Stronger Client Connections
In communication studies, I learned how to effectively engage, listen, and adapt messaging to different audiences. That translates directly into how I:
- Build trust with new clients
- Communicate clearly before, during, and after sessions
- Guide clients through the booking and planning process
- Tell your story visually and verbally, through captions, blog posts, and galleries
Whether I’m photographing a bridal shower or branding session, the goal is always to connect—through emotion, light, and language.
💼 2. PR and Marketing = Brand Growth with Purpose
My PR/Marketing background taught me how to:
- Understand market trends and client needs
- Build a strong, consistent brand identity
- Create engaging social media content
- Write captions, emails, and blog posts (like this one!) that actually resonate
These skills have helped me grow my presence across Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms—not just as a photographer, but as someone who tells authentic, heart-centered stories.
Marketing is more than promotion. It’s about creating connection—and that’s what I strive for in every part of my business.
💰 3. Business Skills = Confidence Behind the Scenes
Let’s be real: running a photography business takes more than creativity. My business minor gave me practical knowledge in:
- Budgeting and pricing my services
- Understanding taxes and financial planning
- Managing client contracts and invoices
- Making informed decisions as I grow
These behind-the-scenes operations allow me to deliver a professional, smooth experience for every client—because I’ve built a foundation rooted in strategy and care.
✨ The Bigger Picture
My education might not be in photography specifically, but every course, project, and late-night study session helped shape the way I run my business today. It gave me the tools to communicate with clarity, market with intention, and manage my company with confidence—all while staying grounded in my passion for capturing real, meaningful moments.
If you're looking to book a photographer who brings not only creativity, but strategy and care to every part of the experience—you’re in the right place.
